Posts from Rep. Joe Morelle

June 28, 2025

Over the weekend, U.S. forces launched strikes against Iranian military targets. I remain steadfast in my belief that Iran must never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon. There can be no lasting peace in the Middle East while the regime continues funding extremist groups and threatening the United States and Israel.

At the same time, I am deeply concerned by President Trump’s leadership in this moment. His pattern of erratic, politically motivated decision-making only deepens the fear many Americans are feeling today.

We need steadiness, not chaos. This is a moment that demands diplomacy, discipline, and a serious commitment to securing lasting peace.

As we pursue a path forward grounded in these values, we must not lose sight of those already bearing the greatest burden. I am holding in my heart the innocent civilians caught in the crossfire—and our brave service members risking their lives abroad. Read more about my work this week below:

How We’re Fighting Back

This week, I joined my colleagues on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies for a hearing with United States Attorney General Pam Bondi. A.G. Bondi came before our subcommittee as a part of the annual budget process, where Trump administration officials come before Congress to answer questions about their budget proposals for the following year.

During the hearing, I asked A.G. Bondi about President Trump’s decision to issue Presidential pardons to 1,500 people who participated in the violent riot at our Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Instead of answering this serious question, she pivoted to conspiracy theories about the former president and filibustered from her seat. It’s clear A.G. Bondi was unprepared to answer any sort of policy questions, and her conduct during the hearing was an embarrassment to our justice system.

I’m going to continue to use my voice to push back against this administration and get the answers people deserve.

Safeguarding Healthcare for All

Last Friday, I joined WXXI’s Connections with Evan Dawson to give an update on my work in Washington over the previous months. One of the topics we covered was House Republicans’ recent efforts to strip Medicaid and SNAP away from millions of Americans—a move so unpopular, members of their own party are starting to grow skeptical. During our discussion, I reaffirmed my commitment to speaking out against this draconian legislation in Washington and here at home—because our families deserve better.

Keeping Elected Officials and Their Families Safe

Earlier this month, Mary Beth and I were deeply saddened and disturbed by the apparent targeted political attacks in Minnesota. Violence is never the answer, and all forms of political violence should always be condemned.

In response to these horrific attacks, I’m working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to help bolster security for members of Congress and their families. This is literally an issue of life or death for elected officials at all levels, not just in Congress, and it’s critical we do all we can to help keep lawmakers and their families safe and secure. While we continue to pray for State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, as well as the family of State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, let’s honor their lives and legacies with action.

Creating Connections For Our Community

Over the past 18 months, I’ve been working alongside Monroe County Executive Adam Bello, U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer, and Ogden Supervisor Mike Zale to re-open the Gillett Road bridge. The closure of this bridge was presenting significant challenges for our neighbors in Ogden, but just this week railroad company CSX announced they would begin repairs on this critical piece of infrastructure. This is an important win for our neighbors in Ogden, whose daily life has been disrupted due to the closure. I’m proud to have joined with our local leaders to hold CSX accountable and push for this long-overdue repair, and I’m grateful CSX is taking action to restore this essential connection for our neighbors.

Continuing the Fight for Reproductive Rights

Three years ago this week, the radical conservative majority on the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, stripping away five decades of Constitutionally protected healthcare from millions of women.

I’ve been fighting tirelessly to restore this right, because health care decisions should be between you, your doctor, and no one else. Please know my office is always here to help. Visit morelle.house.gov to learn more about how we can assist you and your family. Due to ongoing actions by the Trump administration affecting federal agencies, case processing may be slightly delayed. We appreciate your patience and remain committed to resolving your cases promptly.

June 21, 2025

In the wake of the horrifying killing of Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, and the shooting of State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, I am grateful to our law enforcement officers for their service in communities across the country.

As top Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, which is responsible for member safety, I have been in close contact with the House Sergeant at Arms and the U.S. Capitol Police to proactively ensure the safety of Minnesota’s congressional delegation. Hear more about how I’m supporting my colleagues here.

Lawmakers shouldn’t have to worry about the safety of their families while they carry out their elected duties, and violence of any kind has no place in our democracy. I joined Leader Jeffries in writing a letter to Speaker Johnson urging him to increase the Member Representational Allowance to support additional safety and security measures in every office. Read more about my work this week below:

How We’re Fighting Back

I proudly joined 151 of my House Democratic colleagues in signing onto an amicus brief defending critical medical research funding at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) against unlawful cuts by the Trump Administration. These cuts threaten the very foundation of lifesaving biomedical and public health research that millions of Americans depend on.

This week, I met with seniors at the Jewish Home to talk about the Trump administration’s dangerous proposed budget and how its cuts to Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare could affect them. While the Trump administration targets these essential programs, I’m fighting for our seniors’ right to age comfortably. This is not an easy time—but we all have a responsibility to do right by our neighbors, especially the older Americans who have worked their entire lives to support our communities.

I joined my colleagues in signing a letter strongly condemning the forceful and unacceptable physical restraint of Senator Alex Padilla while attempting to lawfully exercise his constitutional and congressional authority to question a senior official of the current administration.

Senator Padilla clearly identified himself and was acting within his rights as a Member of Congress. The use of force against a sitting senator—in a federal building, during official business—is a grave breach of protocol. We’ve requested swift and decisive action to uphold the dignity and authority of Congress.Read the full letter here.

Bringing Healthcare Where It’s Needed Most

I was glad to join County Executive Bello this week to cut the ribbon on the Saint Joseph’s Neighborhood Center’s new Medical Outreach and Engagement Vehicle. This vehicle will bring critical services to the neighborhoods that need them most—places where reliable transportation and access have too often been barriers to care. This is a pivotal time to invest in the health of our neighbors, and while we’re advancing this mission here in Rochester, I’m fighting for the same goal in Washington. I’m proud to represent a community that believes healthcare is a human right and backs that belief with action.

Celebrating Caribbean American Heritage Month

This month, we celebrate Caribbean American Heritage Month, a time to recognize the vibrant culture and rich history of the Caribbean American community here in Rochester.

Together, we reflected on their immeasurable contributions to our community and the nation as a whole and honored five local leaders whose lives and careers exemplify the very best of the Caribbean American tradition in Rochester. I’m grateful for these individuals’ work, their voices, and their leadership, which enriches not just our city but the fabric of our society. Honoring our Vietnam Veterans

As a member of the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration, I had the honor of presenting local Vietnam War veterans with honorary lapel pins and Certificates of Congressional Recognition this week. It is my hope that these pins serve as a constant reminder to our courageous veterans that we will never forget their service, sacrifice, and heroism.

This is the latest in a series of Pinning Ceremonies my office has had the privilege of hosting, and we look forward to honoring more of our local veterans in the future. If you know of a Vietnam War veteran who should receive this commemorative pin, please reach out to our office. Read more: Congressman Joe Morelle Honors Local Vietnam Veterans

Billionaires don’t need more tax breaks—and Americans can’t afford the cuts Republicans are planning to pay for them.

This week, my colleagues and I fought back at hearings for funding bills proposed by House Republicans. We stood together to support Americans who will be hurt the most by their plans—kids, veterans, and seniors.  Read more below:

How We’re Fighting Back

I started my week with the House Committee on Appropriations reviewing the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs funding bill. The Republican’s bill attacks veterans’ benefits and care and breaks our promise to our service members that when they come home, we will take care of them.

During the hearing, my colleagues and I secured over $50 billion for veterans who suffered from toxic exposure. We fought back against Republicans’ attempt to scrap this funding and won for the veterans who trusted us with their care.
It’s an important win, but their funding bill still fails our veterans. I’ll keep fighting for funding that invests in our veterans and their families.

Supporting our Key Allies

According to the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, the Trump administration plans to reduce our support for our ally, Ukraine, in their greatest time of need. Two and a half years into Russia’s unprovoked war, we cannot abandon Ukraine in their fight to defend freedom and democracy.  I questioned the Secretary on the Trump administration’s plans to support our ally during a hearing this week.

Protecting our Farmers and Families

The proposed Republican funding bill for Agriculture, Rural Development, and the Food and Drug Administration will raise costs, gut investments to rural communities, and rip food away from hungry kids and families.

If my colleagues on the other side of the aisle were serious about investing in America, they wouldn’t be trying to take fruit and vegetables away from children.  Investing in America means making sure families can put food on the table and children can grow up healthy and strong. That’s how we secure our nation’s future.

Investing in our National Security

As a member of the House Appropriations Committee Subcommittee on Defense, I spoke during our hearing this week on the funding bill proposed by House Republicans. I’m fighting for a Defense funding bill that invests in our national security and military readiness—not one that provides more tax breaks for billionaires.  However, our nation’s commander-in-chief can’t even be bothered to respond to our budget request. We have no real idea what the priorities are, and we cannot ensure we’re doing the utmost to defend the citizens of our country without one.

We have to do better than this.

Please know my office is always here to help. Visit morelle.house.gov to learn more about how we can assist you and your family. Due to ongoing actions by the Trump administration affecting federal agencies, case processing may be slightly delayed. We appreciate your patience and remain committed to resolving your cases promptly.

June 7, 2025

This week, Republicans introduced a devastating rescission package that guts the very programs working families rely on. These rescissions are a formal request to Congress to claw back previously approved funds.

These cuts threaten our future—our global leadership, our economic strength, and our ability to support everyday Americans. I’m speaking out, and I won’t stop fighting back.  Read more below:

How We’re Fighting Back

Last week, President Trump signed a slew of get-out-of-jail-free pardons for his supporters. He made it clear: if you’re rich, famous, and loyal to him, justice is for sale.

Add it to the list of his egregious abuses of power.  I’ve introduced a constitutional amendment that makes it clear, no one, especially the president, is above the law. Presidents are not monarchs, they are not tyrants, and they shall not be above the law.

The Harmful Republican Rescission Package

I joined Ali Vitali on Way Too Early on MSNBC this week to talk about the devastating rescissions package Republicans have proposed.

These cuts strike at the heart of what makes us strong: our investment in people—which allow us to be a leader in the world in science and innovation and support hardworking Americans just trying to make ends meet.  I won’t stop fighting to support the programs and resources our community relies on.

Celebrating the Retirement of RIT’s President

This week, I had the honor of recognizing the retirement of the President of the Rochester Institute of Technology, Dr. David Munson Jr.

Under his leadership, RIT soared into the Top 100 National Universities, and he guided over $500 million in capital projects that have reimagined the student experience. I’m grateful for his friendship and his belief in the limitless potential of students and scholars alike.

Honoring our Vietnam Veterans

As a member of the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration, I have the honor of presenting Vietnam War veterans from our district with honorary lapel pins and Certificates of Congressional Recognition. I will be hosting our next ceremony on June 16th.

If you know of a Vietnam War veteran who should receive this commemorative pin, please reach out to our office and RSVP by June 12th.  Please know my office is always here to help. I was grateful to be back in Rochester this week, meeting with local leaders and hearing from the organizations that keep our region running.

Last week, House Republicans pushed through a budget bill that would hurt Rochester’s families and America’s future. I joined SiriusXM P.O.T.U.S. to discuss just how dangerous this is for our community.  While we continue to face unprecedented challenges, it was inspiring to witness the incredible strength of our community as we rise to meet them. Read more about my week below:

How We’re Fighting Back

In March, President Trump signed an Executive Order that called for the elimination of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The proposed cuts to the core functions of the IMLS pose a significant threat to the survival of our nation’s cultural and educational institutions and would be felt in every community across the country.

This week, I convened a group of local museums that are directly affected by these cuts to discuss how we can support them as we fight back.   When this Executive Order was first signed, I joined fifteen members of New York’s delegation to send a letter to President Trump expressing strong opposition to these cuts. IMLS support is crucial for sustaining community access to information and fostering innovation, and I won’t stop fighting to protect the program and its investments in our community. Read the full letter here.

Touring a National Landmark

I recently had the chance to tour the Capitol dome—a breathtaking symbol of our democracy. Standing tall over Washington, D.C., the Capitol dome has witnessed more than 150 years of American history. Completed during the Civil War, the dome rose even as our nation fought to hold itself together, and each detail in its halls tells the story of a nation striving toward a more perfect union.  Today, as our nation faces unprecedented challenges, its history and architecture remind us of what we’re fighting to protect: the pillars of our democracy and future of our republic.

Investing in the Next Generation

Supporting our youth and their families is one of the most important investments we can make in the future of our community and our country. I met with leaders in the child care and education space across Rochester this week.

Rochester Childfirst Network is committed to advancing early education and child care. It was great to sit down with them and discuss their critical work and how we can ensure they have every resource they need to succeed.

I stopped by Iroquois Middle School in Irondequoit to meet with a fourth-grade class participating in the Stand-Up Project. This is an assignment where students learn how to use their voice to fight for change in our community. It was inspiring to hear about the causes these students are advocating for—and extra special because I got to see my grandson Jonas, too!

I rounded out the week with a meeting with EDceptional, led by Sebrone Johnson. We discussed their work to support Rochester-area charter schools and enhance education opportunities for all of Rochester’s children.  Please know my office is always here to help. Visit morelle.house.gov to learn more about how we can assist you and your family. May 24, 2025

This week, House Republicans passed a budget proposal that slashed Medicaid, Medicare, and food assistance programs by over a trillion dollars and will eliminate health insurance coverage for 13 million Americans.

The bill saddles American taxpayers with $5 trillion in new debt, all to pay for the largest tax cut for millionaires and billionaires in our nation’s history. This is cruel, irresponsible, and un-American. I will do everything I can to fight to stop it.  Read more about my work this week below:

How We’re Fighting Back

We recently recognized Police Week on Capitol Hill, but Speaker Johnson and House Republicans still refuse to honor those who protected our U.S. Capitol on January 6th. Instead, the congressionally approved plaque honoring these officers remains in the basement, collecting dust, rather than being properly displayed—as the law states. I introduced a resolution to direct the Architect of the Capitol to install the plaque.   This week, the Department of Justice doubled down on the insult to these brave officers with a $5 million settlement to be paid to the family of January 6th rioter Ashli Babbitt. These officers risked—and in some cases lost—their lives to defend the Congress and our democracy on January 6, 2021. Republicans frequently call themselves the ‘party of law enforcement,’ but actions speak louder than words.

Getting Results for our Community

This week, a federal judge blocked the Trump administration’s unlawful attempt to dismantle the Department of Education — ordering wrongfully terminated staff to be reinstated and affirming that presidents cannot eliminate federal agencies without congressional approval.

As a member of the House Democrats’ Litigation Task Force, I joined nearly 200 colleagues in filing an amicus brief that helped secure this decision.

This is a major win for students, educators, and the rule of law — and proof that we’re getting results.

Jewish American Heritage Month

As we come to the end of Jewish American Heritage Month, we had planned a celebration to recognize some special individuals who have had a profound impact on our Jewish community.

Instead, this celebration became a somber time to mourn the lives we lost in the horrific tragedy that occurred in our nation’s capital this week. This senseless act of violence says so much about where we are in America in this moment, and it conjures up horrific images of Jews being persecuted over the ages.

Together, we must speak out against violence and root out antisemitism wherever it exists. May the memories of these victims be a blessing, and our gathering be a testament to the enduring strength of the Jewish community in America and around the world.   Read more about our honorees: Congressman Joe Morelle Honors Local Members of Jewish Community During Jewish American Heritage Month.

Answering Your Questions

Since the start of the Trump administration, my office has received thousands of calls regarding Trump’s actions. I know people in our community are scared and angry, and I want to hear your concerns.

This week’s question comes from Linda in Hamlin, who asks, “Do you see any indication that enough Republicans in Congress are starting to see how dangerous President Trump’s policies have gotten and the serious impact they are having on our country?” My answer can be watched here.

If you have a question for my office, please share it with us through the form linked here. I’ll be answering these questions on social media and in this newsletter.

Celebrating our Service Academy Nominations

Each year, my office has the opportunity to nominate exceptional students for a U.S. Service Academy appointment. This year, we proudly nominated William Morgan, Christopher Gargan, Caroline Montemaro, and Lorenzo Vinci, all of whom received an appointment to one of our Military Academies.

Congratulations to these outstanding students. If you or a student you know if interested in applying, please visit my website

May 17, 2025

I spent this week in D.C. defending truth, accountability, and the rule of law while House Republicans pushed for a destructive budget that aims to cut 13.7 million Americans from Medicaid and slash nutrition and other vital services.

As President Trump once again tries to consolidate power, my colleagues and I are fighting back.  Read more below:

How We’re Fighting Back

Last week, President Trump abruptly fired a patriotic public servant and the Librarian of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden. Dr. Hayden has spent her entire career serving people—from helping kids learn to read to protecting some of our nation’s most precious treasures. His decision is a complete disgrace.

Trump then went on to unlawfully terminate the Register of Copyrights, Shira Perlmutter, just a day after she refused to rubber-stamp Elon Musk’s efforts to mine troves of copyrighted works to train AI models.

We cannot stand by and allow Trump’s continued power-hungry assault on the legislative branch. This week I led a request to the Library of Congress Inspector General seeking an investigation into potential improper communications between the executive branch and the Library of Congress and I will be introducing legislation to guarantee that the Librarian of Congress is appointed by Congress. Read more here.

Protecting Hardworking Families

I recently joined my fellow lawmakers in filing an amicus brief to stop the Trump administration’s unlawful attempt to dismantle the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

Created after the 2008 crisis, the CFPB has returned over $21 billion to more than 200 million Americans. I’m standing up to defend this critical agency, protect working families, and uphold our constitutional checks and balances. Learn more here.

Investing in Community Safety

This week I joined County Executive Bello to announce a $4.2 million investment in public safety, expanded career opportunities for our community, and preparation or moments of crisis.

This funding will support a training program which will develop the next generation of EMTs and paramedics in Monroe County. I’m proud to work with my local government partners to invest in the services that keep our neighbors healthy and safe. Please know my office is always here to help. Visit morelle.house.gov to learn more about how we can assist you and your family. May 10, 2025

As families continue to grapple with rising costs and growing uncertainty fueled by the Trump administration’s reckless actions, I’m fighting in Congress to protect our community and the values we cherish.

How We’re Fighting Back

Rather than working to bring down the cost of living for folks just trying to make ends meet, President Trump is attacking our economy and the livelihoods of American families to pay for tax cuts for billionaires. On Wednesday night, I joined NewsNation’s On Balance with Leland Vittert to talk about the economic chaos caused by the Trump administration, how it’s hurting families in our community, and what I’m doing to fight back.

Watch my interview here. President Trump deepened his assault on our government institutions and programs by calling for a $1 trillion cut to Medicaid and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), programs thousands of Rochester families rely on to survive.

If enacted, this would have devastating consequences on seniors, children, and families who rely on these programs to receive basic health care and put food on the table. We must fight back against the Trump Administration’s repeated efforts to undermine the well-being of our community, which is why I’m proud to co-sponsor The Hands Off Medicaid and SNAP Act, legislation to protect these programs from being cut during the Congressional budget process.

Read more: Congressman Joe Morelle Stands Up for Medicaid, Food Assistance Program

As a member of the Litigation/Response Task Force, I also signed on to an amicus brief challenging the Trump administration’s efforts to dismantle the Department of Education. I will keep fighting to support our public education system and the tens of millions of students and teachers that rely on it.Read the full brief here.

Supporting Our Educators

This week we marked Teacher Appreciation Week, celebrating the extraordinary work teachers do every day to support and educate our youth. But we must honor their efforts with action, not just words—which is why this week I introduced the Developing and Advancing Innovative Learning Models Act. This legislation would create a federal investment in the research and development of Innovative Learning Models to enable schools to adapt to modern educational needs and send a clear signal that America is focused on educating our future leaders.

Our action is urgently needed as the Trump administration makes drastic cuts to critical student and teacher resources. I look forward to working with my colleagues to better support our teachers and ensure our students are college and career ready.

Holding the Trump Administration Accountable

When asked by a reporter whether or not the president is responsible for upholding the Constitution of the United States, President Trump answered, “I don’t know.” This answer is deeply concerning because on Inauguration Day, Donald Trump swore a clear oath to “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.” So this week, when I had the opportunity to question FBI Director Kash Patel during a House Appropriations Subcommittee hearing, I asked him about the president’s response and what he thinks his duty is as a member of the federal government.

Welcoming Organizations to Washington

My office hosted a Constituent Coffee Hour in Washington, where we welcomed organizations and stakeholders from Rochester, New York State, and all across the country! It was great to connect over coffee and donuts and hear directly from people on the issues most important to them. Their dedication to uplifting our Rochester community inspires my work in Congress—and together, we’re building a stronger region for all.

If you or your organization are interested in signing up for our next event, feel free to reach out to my office!

May 3, 2025

This week marked the first 100 days of the Trump administration. In his first 100 days, President Trump has wiped trillions in value from our stock market, raised costs for hardworking families, cut critical funding for community organizations, and threatened free and fair elections in America.

In short, he’s broken the promises upon which Americans elected him.

The U.S. Department of Commerce has reported that, in the first quarter of this year, the U.S. economy has shrunk for the first time in three years. Groceries are more expensive, and retirement savings are deteriorating—all to make room for massive tax cuts for the wealthy elite. We cannot let this stand.

How We’re Fighting Back

As your Representative, I am supporting ongoing legal challenges in federal court to adjudicate and strike down the Trump administration’s unconstitutional actions.

In Washington, I am working tirelessly with my colleagues to develop legislative and policy solutions to restore balance, protect our most vulnerable, and hold the administration accountable.

We’re fighting back through litigation, legislation, and advocacy for the communities that are counting on us. For an updated list of actions I’ve taken to fight back, visit my website here.

Tom Homan’s Visit to Rochester

The immigration policies being pushed by the Trump administration are inhumane, illegal, and antithetical to the values America has always stood for. We all want secure borders and safe communities—but ripping apart families and deporting American citizens does nothing to accomplish that goal.

How does deporting a four-year-old undergoing treatment for metastatic cancer make America any safer? How does deporting a two-year-old reduce crime? It doesn’t. It’s just cruel. Instead of using Rochester as a prop to make a political statement, Tom Homan should focus on following the rule of law and actually doing his job.

April 26, 2025

I was back in Rochester this week, continuing my fight against the Trump administration’s dangerous actions. As top Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, I’ve been speaking out against the SAVE Act, which would disenfranchise millions of Americans, and President Trump’s Executive Order on Elections. Here at home, I convened a group of community leaders to talk about the consequences of the SAVE Act and discuss how I’m using my leadership role to defend our democracy.

The Trump administration continues to pursue a dangerous trade war, creating an uncertain stock market and leaving small businesses right here in Rochester vulnerable. I’m cosponsoring the Prevent Tariff Abuse Act to protect our businesses and ensure our economy’s stability.

How We’re Fighting Back

As a parent and a grandparent, I’m deeply troubled by the Trump administration’s dangerous vaccine skepticism. Far too many families are being misled by disinformation campaigns that erode public trust in science.

It’s been over 20 years—2003, to be exact—since a child in our country died from measles. At just four months into this year, two children have already died.

This week, I joined community health leaders and experts in a call to push back against disinformation, reaffirm our commitment to science, and ensure families have the support they need to keep their children safe.

Vaccination rates remain far below what’s needed to ensure herd immunity, and when vaccination rates fall, the risk rises for all of us. Our children’s future depends on the choices we make today—whether we stand with our doctors and our neighbors, and for the health of our kids. Connecting With Older Americans

It was great to be with seniors from the St. Ann’s Living Community for an important conversation on what’s happening in Washington and how I’m working to protect their hard-earned benefits and financial security—particularly Social Security and Medicare. As the Trump administration puts these vital services at risk, I’m fighting to make sure older Americans can age with dignity and security by supporting legislation to strengthen Social Security and ensure it remains solvent, and bring down healthcare costs through drug price negotiation for high-cost medications.

Supporting Monroe County’s Leaders in Education

I joined my friends at Monroe Community College this week for the groundbreaking of their new Advanced Technologies Center. This building will help make sure students have the skills they need to thrive—skills that will ultimately drive our economy and benefit our community. I was proud to have secured $3.5 million in federal funding to help make this project a reality, and I will continue to push for federal investment to support important educational opportunities like this.

Celebrating the History of Rochester’s Artistic Community

The Rochester Community Players Theater Group is celebrating their 100th season! For a full century, this group has been a cornerstone of Rochester’s artistic community, and I was grateful for the opportunity to celebrate their legacy with an entry into the Congressional Record.

I stopped by this week to meet the talented individuals who carry this legacy forward and present them with the Congressional Record.

April 19, 2025

Since President Trump took office in January, we have seen an all-out assault on the core values of American Democracy. The Trump administration has issued dangerous and illegal Executive Orders, pursued a reckless trade war with our closest allies, and supported legislation that would disenfranchise millions of American voters. There has never been a more important moment to stand up for our community and our nation.

I’m fighting back through litigation, legislation, and advocacy for the programs and resources our neighbors rely on.  Hear more about my work over the past few weeks with my weekly wrap-up.

We’re Here for You

Every day, my office works tirelessly to help members of our community navigate federal agencies, access important resources, and secure money owed to them. So far this year, my team has already resolved over 213 cases and returned over $3.2 million owed to local businesses and members of our community.

It’s a privilege to be able to assist our community and the individuals and organizations who call it home. Visit morelle.house.gov to learn more about how we can assist you and your family.

Due to ongoing actions by the Trump administration affecting federal agencies, case processing may be slightly delayed. We appreciate your patience and remain committed to resolving your cases promptly.

Until next week,

Joe Morelle  New York’s 25th Congressional District
