Clarkson Democrats host community Earth Day event to clean the Erie canal at San Souci Park right after having a potluck lunch. Participants also brought nonperishable food items for local food banks. About 10 bags of junk was retrieved along with several large items such as a flat screen TV and a construction cone base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

November 10, 2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Route 19 steel lift bridge in Brockport, originally built in 1915, has been reopened after completion of a rehabilitation project that began in May 2023 and took about a year long to complete as planned. More than 80% of the steel was replaced with high-strength galvanized steel including the deck and portions of the truss system. There will still be construction activities around the bridge in the weeks to come , which may result in occasional short-term delays. The local Brockport business is hoping that business will now pick up again with the bridge open, just in time for the holiday season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the No-Kings protest at Hamlin in June that drew about 100+ participants, the No-Kings protest on October 18, 2025 in Hamlin drew around 300 participants. Great atmosphere and completely peaceful. Many who drove by gave a thumbs up and honked in support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Village of Brockport has secured a New York Forward Grant of $4.5 million. SUNY Brockport was a proud supporter of this grant submission, which should have a great impact on the development of the village and therefore our students\u2019 experiences here. The funds will be used to attract new businesses and entrepreneurs, and continue the enhancement of our waterfront. As the Governor\u2019s press release noted, \u201cThe Village seeks to transform its historic downtown corridor into an accessible tourist destination and a home where visitors, residents and people of all abilities can recreate, socialize, live and age in comfort.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
